The Friends of the Moorestown Library is already off to a running start in 2025. We held our Annual Meeting on January 8 at the Moorestown Library. In addition to the trustees, we were glad to see several of our members join us as well! We covered several big topics at this year’s annual meeting.

There were two important changes to memberships made this year. First, the Friends is moving to a rolling membership instead of a fixed-year membership. Previously, a member joining or renewing on July 1st of a year would have their membership expire on December 31st of that year. With the changes, their membership is now good until July 1st of the following year.

The second big change to membership expands who can be a member. Previously, members had to be Moorestown Library cardholders. We’ve found that many people from all over the area want to support our efforts through membership, even if they aren’t Moorestown residents. We’ve changed the bylaws to allow anyone to become a member, wherever they’re from or whether or not they have a library card. To preserve the interests of local Moorestown Library cardholders, we’ve added a requirement for members to live in Moorestown and hold a library card to vote at our annual meeting.

We announced this year’s book sale dates. We will have two book sales, one in May, and the other in October. Check out the Book Sales page for more details! Work is also continuing with fervor on building out our Book Room at the library. Keep an eye out for our Grand Opening event once the room is done.

We renewed our Board of Trustees. We thank Linda Weinstein for all her service as she leaves the Board this year at the end of her term. We welcome Debi Reissmann as a new member to the Board. The Board also elected new officers for the year. We thank Karen Olejarz for serving this past year’s term as President. Lynne Schill was elected President for 2025. Skip Angus was chosen as Treasurer, and Tom Wilkinson will serve as Secretary. The Board is currently working on choosing committee memberships for the year.
